US fans travel to witness Derby County striker Patrick Agyemang's performance
A family of avid football fans from the US had the opportunity to meet their favorite player, Patrick Agyemang, after he switched teams and joined Derby County. The family, who are supporters of Charlotte FC, based in North Carolina, attended the Rams' New Year's Day victory over Middlesbrough at Pride Park Stadium.
Agyemang, a talented striker who has earned caps for his country, made a significant move from the MLS to Derby County for a fee of £5.8 million in July 2025. His impressive performance has quickly made him a fan favorite, as he has scored six goals in just 21 appearances.
In an interview with BBC Radio Derby, Ben Pendry, the father of the family, expressed his excitement, stating, 'We had the chance to see Patrick play, and it's been an incredible family trip to witness Derby's success.'
The Pendry family's admiration for Agyemang dates back to his time in the MLS, where he showcased his skills by scoring 17 goals in 59 appearances for Charlotte FC. Ben Pendry shared a heartwarming story about his son, Branch, who would eagerly wake up early to check the results of Derby County matches and would 'run downstairs shouting' with joy whenever Agyemang scored.
Despite starting the game against Middlesbrough, Agyemang was unable to add to his goal tally on that particular occasion. However, after meeting his US fans, he expressed his gratitude, saying, 'It's incredible. I truly appreciate their support, and it's amazing to see them travel all the way to be here.'
