Bold statement: Oklahoma is building a relentless, high-upside edge group that could redefine their defensive ceiling. But here’s where it gets controversial: recruiting momentum can attract debate about program priorities and depth charts before a single snap is played.
Oklahoma landed four-star edge Krew Jones from Millville (Utah) Ridgeline, announcing his commitment on Saturday. Jones, a standout on the 2027 cycle, returned to Norman to witness the Sooners’ victory over LSU, a moment he called meaningful for his decision.
“Norman has a vibrant college town atmosphere,” Jones remarked. “The fanbase is strong, and the community loves football.”
He stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds. Rivals ranks him as the nation’s No. 20 edge and the No. 135 prospect overall. Jones chose Oklahoma over a slate of prestigious programs, including Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas A&M, among others.
“I was drawn to the coaching staff at OU,” Jones explained. “I’m impressed by what they’re doing on the defensive side. It’s the kind of football I want to play—relentless, violent, and fast.”
Jones becomes the eighth commit for Oklahoma in the 2027 class, a group that Rivals already had ranked as the No. 2 nationally prior to Jones’s addition. With this haul, Oklahoma further solidifies its trajectory as a top-tier recruiter for the cycle.
